I just love taking pictures of energetic kids, it keeps my one my toes! We took these pictures on May 5 down at Falls Park in Sioux Falls, what we didn’t plan on or remember was that it was Cinco De Mayo Day at the Falls, so there were LOTS of people there! We had to be very inventive on our choice of backgrounds so I wouldn’t be spending hours photoshopping people out of the background! The kids did an amazing job and we got some great pictures of them being themselves. I have had the privilege of photographing Kade and Klaire for over 2.5 years, and it has been really fun capturing them at the different stages in life. Hope to do their next 2.5 years! Child Photographer- 3yr. Old Ben04.19.12
Ok, so we thought picking April 1st for Ben’s 3yr. old pictures sounds wonderful with all the spring colors and temps, but who knew that we were in store for a record breaking day. The temps reached 91 degrees here on April 1st. I can’t ever remember that happening in all my life. Little Ben was a trooper and the just kept going, pink cheeks and everything. We decided to meet at the park in Dell Rapids because it has a caboose stationed there and Ben loves trains. There he got to climb all over the train and we got some great candid pictures. Afterwards, we walked down to the river for some pictures of him which made for a nice contrast to the orange train. Children are so much fun to photograph, there expressions are priceless! Birthday Party Photographer – Charlie’s 1st Birthday03.22.12
Little Charlie had quite the first birthday party and we got it all documented with over 300 pictures that they got to keep. My assistant, Stephen, helped me photograph Charlie’s first birthday party which was held at Cherry Creek Restaurant in the banquet hall. Elmo was the inspired theme and everywhere you looked there were Elmo colors (Red & Blue). Jessica (Mom) did a fantastic job in decorating and planning for this special day. The kids got to enjoy a jumping pit with slide, a piggy race, a candy bar, a slideshow, and lots of other games, there wasn’t a dull moment. We had a wonderful time documenting all the special moments of the afternoon, and Jessica & Travis (mom & dad) got to relax and enjoy the party and company, not having to worry about taking pictures to capture it all. Baby Photographer- Riley 6months03.15.12
I was super excited when my new backdrops arrived before Riley’s session. I love the color yellow and really wanted to use my new yellow backdrop I just received in the mail so I texted Riley’s mom to see what outfits she is going to bring for Riley to wear and I couldn’t believe my good luck that one of them was yellow! Riley just turned 6 months and was sitting up amazingly so we didn’t have to use any baskets of props for support so just could focus on little Riley and her cuteness. The yellow outfit Riley is wearing her mom ordered off of Esty.com, which is a site were all items are handmade. This is where I order tons of my hats and other baby props from. 1st Year Pictures- Brady03.15.12
Wow, 1 year old! It seems like yesterday that I was at the hospital taking Brady’s mom’s maternity pictures (she was on bed rest there). We had a great 1st birthday session. We focused mainly on the cake as Brady was super excited to dig into it. I just love his facial expressions as he’s digging in the cake and shoveling it into his mouth. I have to say that he was the messiest 1st birthday boy I’ve ever had in the studio. Thank goodness there is a bath tub here! Newborn Photography – Little Emerson03.15.12
Little Emerson rocked her newborn session. Considering that they were coming from Spirit Lake, IA, is wasn’t sure if Emerson would be sleepy for her session since she would probably sleep on the 1. 5 hour ride into Sioux Falls. She must have been extremely tired as she slept for the entire newborn part of the session! (1.5 hours). I have never had a newborn sleep so soundly. We were able to do lots of different sets and props with her as a result. She even let us prop her up on her elbows! (no those are not photoshopped together images, it is actually her doing that all by herself!). Her big brother Braxton was very good watching a movie with his grandma and aunt until it was his turn. He was so proud of his new sister, hold her and talking to her. I love the picture of them looking at eachother. St. Pactrick’s Day is fast approaching so we decided it would be fun to do a St. Patrick’s theme for a picture as well as an Easter set. Normally, I can only do 3-4 different sets with a newborn, but little Emerson let us to as many as we wanted. I truly love photographing newborns, it is a gift for me to be able to document their beginning. Newborn sessions are very affordable, so pass the word! Children’s Photographer- Sioux Falls, SD “The Dunn Boys”03.07.12
When little Jackson and Jacob walked in I was super excited to see their dad close behind carrying a hockey goal and sticks. I love it when clients bring in personal props to use in the pictures as it gives the young kids some sense of familiarity when they are in the studio. The little guy, Jacob, was slightly hesitant about getting his pictures taken (though I have photographed him several times before, we haven’t been inside the studio for a long time!) but having something familiar drew him into the studio. Big brother Jackson was a pro for pictures. He know exactly what to do. I love his facial expression in the hockey pictures, he was all business! Watch out mom and dad I think you have a aspiring hockey player(s) here! Photographing children is such a joy, I absolutely love capturing them in photographs which are treasures forever.
